I found some information on UTI’s from brazilian waxing and it made my skin crawl. I have heard of people getting folliculitis from having their legs waxed at salon because they are re-using the same wax the rest of the town used, but never thought about it from a brazilian! Maybe that is such a touchy subject no one wants to come forward.
iVillage has an informative article on Beauty Gone Bad, plus some tips on Averting Wax Attacks. Have you had a bad experience or heard someone else’s horror story before? Do Share, we would love to learn what to look out for from your point of view. As always, wax safe.

Please. Infections would be running rampant in salons and would have been for many years if that was true. Listed reasons: waxing over an area more than once/ double dipping / same pot of wax / professional not wearing gloves…
I have heard people say they got staph or herpes outbreak from double dipping. No they didn’t. They had a service which triggered something they were already carrying. They go to a doctor, tell the doctor what they had done in the last few days and without any substantiated evidence (as in the scientific process of getting the pot of wax and testing it) the doctor says that it came from getting waxed/double dipping/ whatever and the client and public believes them.
Imagine how many combs have been used on heads that had even a tiny open wound over the years and how many massages that the fine velous (I am sure I spelled that wrong) hair was pulled out creating lymph fluid to come to the surface of the skin and how many dentists had their bare hands in our disgusting mouths! Yet here we are today.
About 10 years ago the industry was all over the glove issue. We were all supposed to wear gloves for every esthetic service, but somehow getting a bare-handed massage was fine. Oiy! Now we have moved on to the double dipping.
So a client won’t get folliculites (again on the spelling thing) from the wax, but they can absolutely get it from being waxed. Just as they can have a herpes outbreak.
staph? most often from hospitals, can we talk?
Anyway, enough ranting, and it is entirely possible you completely disagree with me and I have now offended you.
Point well taken, thank you for the feedback and we hope to hear more from you.
