During an episode of The Doctors yesterday, they presented this new form of permanent birth control called Essure. Though it appears pretty painless, I have the type of body that rejects everything foreign. Honestly, I probably should roll around the Earth in a gigantic gerbil ball to avoid everything that sets me off, but that’s just me. I want to know what other women think of this? It does seems to have many pluses for women who are done having children — like no hormones and the lack of tubal ligation surgery — but it also does carry a risk of ectopic pregnancy, which is treatable, but may have it’s own set of complications. What do you think? Have you or someone you know had this procedure or are considering it? I feel that one of the best things about being women is our tendency to research, talk about, and share information, so I am very interested in hearing your thoughts.
