A Great Rip Off – More Tips For Better Waxing

I’ve long since recovered from my last waxing trip, and feel much better prepared for the next time. But, since I do like to err on the side of too much information, here are some more tips I’ve found to make your (and my) next trip awesome.

  • First and foremost, freshen up. Seriously, this is really important. It’s the polite thing to do for your beauty professional (esthetician), but also cuts down on the chance of bacteria causing nasty stuff to happen “down there”.
  • Talk to your esthetician; she’s going to be working with the most intimate part of your body – you need to be comfortable and let her know what’s going on in your head.
  • Be sure to wax after your period and not the week before. Your skin is more sensitive the week leading up to your period.
  • Exfoliate your skin the day before your appointment to provide greater access to shorter hairs and remove dead skin.
  • Go for hard wax – it’s supposedly more gentle than soft.
  • If you have a low tolerance to pain, you can take an over-the-counter pain killer and hour before you go to help.
  • Avoid holding your breath; try coughing or breathing out quickly when the wax is being removed.

I think that should cover it – unless you have another tip you’d like to share. If so, let me know. If not, happy waxing!
