Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for piercings.  Well I’m all for jewelry (little diamonds, big diamonds, delicate Me & Ro jewelry, scary rock & roll jewelry), I mean my favorite book as a child was called Earrings, but I digress. 

I was genuinely shocked the other day.  A friend of mine, always stylish and up-to-date, revealed to me that she’d pierced her sweet spot.  She told me lots of women pierce their privates and that men do, too.

I guess this is just a world I never knew about.  No judgment at all here—I am just curious why someone would do that.  And how—do you go into a private little pod in the tattoo parlor like you would in a manicure salon to get a bikini wax?    I mean I heard from the Vagina Monologues that the clitoris is highly sensitive, containing 8000 nerve endings, double the nerve endings as the… “analogous organ in males” (thanks, Wikipedia).  Wouldn’t it hurt like crazy??!!

Maybe it’s like a secret society—one of those things that is cool to do but not so cool to talk about. If anyone out there has endeavored to pierce her sweet spot, please illuminate me.
