Recently in the world of SweetTalk, I spoke out about women’s sexual health, and the need for all women to improve our self care in this area. While this is extremely important, it may not be the only issue we are grappling with right now.
A report I saw yesterday made mention of the adverse affect the economic downturn is having on the sexual health of our relationships. Curious, I poked around the Web and found that it may be true. It’s a trend that started last October, and seems to even be changing the way couples are handling birth control — according to this article in the Chicago Sun-Times.
Granted, all relationships have their ups and downs, but it appears that the stress of economic woes is choking our ability to relax and enjoy intimacy with our partners. This is putting our relationships in jeopardy, starving them for the connection that is vital to their survival.
Sure, we’ve joked about creating a sex schedule (which many feel is a great idea) and asked you what you think the perfect amount of sex is, but perhaps it’s time to turn to an expert? I definitely feel this isn’t something we should take lying down — no pun intended.
Let me ask you: In your opinion, is the state of the economy affecting your relationship? Do money worries have you fighting with your partner instead of enjoying each other?
