Would you say you run hot or cold? I ask because Good Morning America brought it up this morning, and I thought this only happened in my household.
Oh yes, there’s a battle raging at Miller Mansion over the thermostat. I can’t stand anything under 75 degrees and my husband thinks I’m part lizard. So what if the thought of baking in the sun on top of a rock gives me goosebumps? Aside from the fact that my lily white body would fry like an egg in seconds, I’m still the type that would rather sweat it out than shiver my timbers.
Not Mr. Miller, though. He’s the wear-shorts-in-40-degree-weather type. I bet I could fry the aforementioned egg on his forehead. Seriously.
So what’s the deal with the hot/cold issue? Apparently, women tend to naturally run cooler than men. This is attributed to us having an abundance of constricted blood vessels located closer to the surface of our skin.
But, to every rule, there are exceptions. Circulatory problems can change the picture, as can hormone imbalances, other health challenges, and the amount of body fat one carries around.
Seems pretty straight forward, but it doesn’t address my other temperature quandry: If I’m such a cool cucumber, why do I have the temper of a hot tamale? Thoughts or musings on this, anyone?
