CONTROVERSY!

I say that with a bit of spunk because I think the internet scandalization of the “ceviche scene” from The Ugly Truth is silly.

Some say it’s a rip-off of When Harry met Sally’s fake-orgasm-I’ll-have-what-she’s-having scene; others think it’s more a derivation of the under-the-table fondle in Wedding Crashers, both as classic in their own way as Ferris Bueller’s “Twist & Shout.” 

Who cares if it’s not original??  It’s funny!  A girl at the restaurant sees Katherine Heigl climaxing all on her own and whispers to her boyfriend, “What’s in ceviche?”

Genius!  Well maybe not genius, but darn cute!  Romantic comedies stopped being original and serious long ago, so unless we are going to go write our own screenplays and try to change that, perhaps we should just sit back and giggle.
