I don’t know about you, but a feeling has come over me during the past few days that I haven’t experienced for a long time. I want to go clothes shopping.
It was sparked by a conference call, regarding group publicity shots, that some friends and I need to get. We all have different body types and looks, so styling for these shots might be a bit tricky.
After I got off the call, I went through my familiar drill: Opened my closet, looked at my clothes, and freaked out because nothing seems to look good, or fit right. Not to whine, but, I think I’m mourning the fashion plate I used to be.
My recipe for personal style chaos: Take one move from major metropolitan fashion convenience and luxury to a small town in the country. Then, add the birth of a beautiful daughter, and mix well with a milestone birthday. Lastly, apply a recession belt securely to the budget. Goodbye to my pre-birth days of wearing anything I wanted, without the assistance of Spanx. Farewell to eating nothing but brown rice until my next payday, because I just had to have that outfit on an impulse buy. Hello, responsible mom.
All is not lost, however! Browsing the great online bargains retailers are offering to get us all back in the shopping mood, I made a monumental discovery: myShape.com. You’ve simply GOT to check it out. It lets you set up your own personal shop, and then matches your measurements to a body shape. They offer style tips and star styles and other features that empower you to take charge of styling yourself. It’s brilliant, and the sign that it’s time for me to shop!
Look out camera, I plan to be ready for my close up, and full body shot, and whatever scenario comes my way (insert wicked cackle here).
