Imagine waking up beautiful and still looking great at 11 p.m. without having to apply cosmetics several times during the day. Imagine having perfectly designed eyebrows, gorgeously defined eyes and sensual looking lips that stay on perfectly and won’t smear or end up on your partner’s shirt. How about jumping in and out of the pool and still looking great? It’s all possible with permanent makeup.
The art of Micropigmentation, also know as permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing, is becoming quiet popular. It allows busy women to look their best at all times, enhancing the beauty of those of us who desire more than what Mother Nature gave us. It’s also a definite plus for women without good vision or who have arthritis or have problems keeping their hands steady.
This procedure is not really new. Tattooing in general is an ancient art. Although cosmetic tattooing started in modern time in the early 1900s, it was also used by royalty in Ancient Egypt and by some women in India and Africa thousands of years ago. They created cosmetic tattoos by using fine needles, thorns or bamboo splinters to insert plant and nut pigments or ground coal or charcoal into the skin.
I’ve always said that eyebrows are the frame for the face, but getting sparse or pale eyebrows to look good can be difficult. If you don’t know how to draw in a realistic eyebrow, it can be hard to produce a flattering look. There are stencils you can buy to help apply eyebrow pencils and powder, but you still have the hassle of daily application and the inconvenience of accidentally wiping them off or smudging them throughout the day.
If this sounds familiar, permanent makeup can help. Keep in mind that your eyebrows will be permanent. Steer clear of anything trendy or with unrealistic super-high arches. Those may be fashionable now but will look dated eventually and you will be stuck with them. Some technicians draw in individual hair-like strokes, which can look very natural looking, much more than a solidly colored in eyebrow shape. Choose a good artist with a refined sense of color and the ability to custom-blend colors for different complexions, personalities and lifestyles.
