Why try to fight the cliché about chick flicks? I dislike generalizing or branding romantic films as being girly. Why should only chicks appreciate a heartfelt narrative of love and loss? Well I for one think both sexes can appreciate a great story, whatever the nature or content. Hey, if it’s good, it’s good. My newest find is Jane Campion’s latest feature, “Bright Star.”
The story follows the brilliant poet John Keats and the vibrant woman who captures his affections. Set in 1818 England, Keats and Fanny Brawne find unexpected love unforeseen by opposing families and social circles, which like most tragic love stories, truly ends up testing the limits of the relationship.
