At first I just decided to write this article because I thought to myself that sometimes it is ok to just look at some really gorgeous pictures. Sometimes, in fact, you need to.
These photos are just a few in the fabulous article in the upcoming Vanity Fair called “Fortune’s Children” about the world’s most eligible heirs and heiresses. Please feel free to drool and admire, but also if you would like to, think about the following, because as usual I have something semi-philosophical to say: my parents always told me it was important to work, that even if they’d had all the money in the world, they’d still want me to work in order to be fulfilled and be happy. And yet, I am looking at these pictures of these kids and they look pretty darn happy.
They look so relaxed, so un-weathered, so fresh and youthful, like they fill their days with only the things they want to do, with intention and enjoyment and ease. Maybe, in this crazy modern world where everything is stressful, it is
more healthy to not have to work. Because it seems that work does not define and fulfill people’s identities and dreams like it used to, for the most part.
Do you think that people should work, for some reason even if they don’t have to?
