Happy groovy Tuesday everyone! I say this because Aaron LeMieux has every “hippy geek” gene in my body pinging, right now.
Not familiar with Aaron you say? Well, allow me to elucidate. Aaron LeMieux is the founder of Tremont Electric and inventor of nPower technology, which harvests the power of kinetic energy to charge portable devices. In short, Aaron has taken “power walking” into the literal realm.
His premiere device, the nPower PEG (a.k.a. personal energy generator) is a relatively unobtrusive gadget (about the size of a flashlight) that you strap onto your belt when you walk. Magnets and springs inside the PEG transform your every step into energy you can use to power all sorts of electronic devices from your iPhone to GPS.
Seriously, if this device doesn’t show up on every geek’s (mine included) gift wish list, the whole planet needs a big green smack down. You loose weight, have access to power wherever you are, and reduce your fossil fuel consumption. Sounds like the perfect Trekkie-type solution to help us live long and prosper, don’t you agree?
And, if the PEG isn’t enough for me to want to sing Aaron’s praise from the roof tops, Tremont Electric is also working on a large-scale energy alternative to coal, which harnesses the power of waves in much of the same way the PEG does with walking. Amazing.
Though the PEG is currently on pre-pre-order as Tremont Electric irons out fulfillment and ship dates, I feel as though Christmas came early for the entire planet this year. Just knowing that Aaron’s team is tirelessly working on viable and comprehensive solutions to improve our global environmental situation is a gift to us all. Deck the halls with sustainable solutions, fa la la la la la la la YAY!
