Is There a Connection between Cell Phones & Cancer?

by Sophia Marcel

This is not news to us, we have heard this before and I for one still use one. What would we do without them? Lately, I’m hearing everywhere that experts are saying the cell phones we use are emitting radiofrequency radiation and though while not as damaging as X-rays radiation, it still can affect our DNA.

In 23 separate studies done by researchers from South Korea and California looking to find a link between tumors and cell phone users the studies did not show an increased risk, although, when the researchers focused on the higher quality studies, tests found prolonged use of cell phones, 10 years or more, show an increase risk of brain and salivary gland cancers. In Scandinavia, where cell phones have been used longer, cancer has doubled.

Finland and Israel, have already issued warnings that children not use cell phones, and Maine recently passed an emergency bill mandating warning labels about children and cell phones.

Dr. Oz knows that we all rely on our cell phones to connect us to the people we love, to help us stay organized, and, in an emergency, to keep us safe and more importantly for work, and he gives us 5 steps to staying safe:
Use Speakerphone – Exposure drops exponentially with distance. The phone doesn’t have to be very far away to reduce exposure 1,000 to 10,000 times.
Go wireless – Use a headset and if wireless, turn off when done.
Store it – Store in your purse or bag. If kept on your waist, keep it turned off. Studies show reduced sperm count and radiation exposure to bone marrow when phone is carried in pocket.
Strong signal – If the signal is weak, discontinue talking because radio has to boost signal so there is more radiation exposure.
Protect kids – Don’t let children use cell phones or encourage texting.
