The winter invites drama into our lives, encouraging consumers to laugh, cry, sigh, and escape before a flat screen. I am usually interested in the exciting line-up of family holiday, love struck narratives. This holiday season, I’m curious about several films and am wondering of other opinions.
A bit of Coen brothers anyone? Their latest flick A Serious Man, addresses the Old Testament as well as their personal family history. The brothers have cast relatively unknown actors, which counters their previous big-named Burn After Reading. The film seemingly provides the traditional humor and sardonic atmosphere present in past work, which definitely interests me.
Souls. Cold Souls. A new comedy starring Paul Giamatti (playing himself), involves the process of detracting your soul. Giamatti visits a high-tech company that specializes in removing the soul of a human. The soul is represented in the form of small lumps, and then they are placed into storage. Paul lives soullessly but finds that his acting suffers. —–Weird, but undeniably curious.
