Fashionistas and art lovers everywhere, the story of Coco Before Chanel comes to life in theaters this week. The Lifetime network produced a similar portrayal of Coco’s, or rather Gabrielle’s, starting days as a young trend setting woman. This version directed by Anne Fontaine, stars Audrey Tautou as the youthful Gabrielle. The lovely Audrey Tautou, previously of (personal favorite), Amelie, commits to the screen as the vibrant, ambitious, and romantic pioneer we have come to know as Coco.

Personally, I am pleased the dialogue is in French and that all actors are native speakers. Having the story of Chanel replayed by English or American actors would have felt perhaps less authentic. Let me know your thoughts!
