Quick Work-Arounds

Throughout my years working in the entertainment industry, and especially now as a mother of a young child, I’ve become a mistress of illusion; a maven of the quick fix; a queen of the work-around.

How many ladies out there can feel my pain? Seriously, you get an invitation to a last minute event and your roots are showing (not in a trendy way either). How about those dress pants you’ve been meaning to get altered and find yourself taking dark masking tape or your office stapler to them instead? I just love it when I forget that I scuffed my favorite pair of dress shoes and don’t have time to get new ones, and my husband tells me “no one will notice”. ARGH!

Well, today I discovered a few tips to help gals like us out, and I just had to share.

The first is for those roots. Gotta love Gretta Monahan’s beauty tip from the Rachael Ray Show. It involves no hair dye, just hair spray, a makeup brush, and some eye shadow that is close to your hair color. Brilliant trick and one that works - I tried it after I watched the segment.

The next one lives over at The View where one of their stylists recommended spraying old shoes with spray glitter or metallic paint, you can get at most hardware and/or craft stores, to give them a new lease on a glamorous life.

The last is a new tooth whitener, I saw on The Doctors, distributed by WOW Oral Care. There are two products — a spray and an oral rinse, and the spray can whiten your teeth at home within 90 seconds. Wow is right.

Hope those help you the next time you’re in a pinch!
