I found this picture the other day, and it got me thinking. With the success of Courtney Cox’s Cougar Town, do you feel we’ve finally arrived in the Cougar age?
As most of us know, a Cougar is loosely defined as a woman whose age is somewhere between 40 and 60, who likes to date younger men.
A Cougar can be single, divorced, widowed, or just a bored housewife. The key defining factor these women have in common? Self confidence.
Consider that the average Cougar is not drop dead gorgeous, but rather very self assured. She does not need a man to take care of her. Rather, she is the sugar mama when it comes to attention and finances. A man is not attracted to a Cougar because she looks 21. He is turned on by her age.
If you want to journey down the road into Cougar land, here are a few helpful hints: Join a gym, refresh your look by changing up your hair and makeup, and (most importantly) go shopping for some key pieces for your wardrobe. The Real Cougar Woman not only offers helpful tips, it also has a neat little boutique. Lucia, from the Cougar Channel offers some “interesting” advice too.
For the record, my mom (yes, that’s actually her in the picture) was a Cougar before anyone considered it cool. At the time, I just thought it was rather odd to have my brother’s friends tripping over their feet in her presence. Now, I realize the art to it and wonder: Am I headed down the same path?
