Time to get creative ladies. We can’t all afford to head out to the spa at first sign of a stress pimple or dirty pores. Did you know that just by looking through the fridge and cupboards in your kitchen, you can find almost everything that you need for an Ooh La La day?
Let’s say you’re in your 30′s. (I am) A really wonderful choice would be coconut oil, egg yolk, honey, sugar and yogurt. Mix it up, smooth over your face, and leave it on for a least 25 minutes. Wash off with some lukewarm water followed by cold water to shock your pores into shrinking. The ingredients in this mask contain triglycerides, sugars, lecithin and vitamins…all things your skin craves to thrive. Trust me, you’ll see a noticeable difference after the first time you try this beauty concoction.
In your 40′s, your skin starts to lose collagen and elastin. Try this: sweet peas, evening primrose oil, yogurt, grape seed extract and carrot juice. Mix it up in a blender, smooth it on your face and leave it on for at least 30 minutes. Again, rinse it off with lukewarm water followed by cold. The oil acts as a collagen builder while the peas contain an enzyme inhibitor. Again, another wow moment waiting to happen.
For a basic skin smoother (regardless of age) try mixing together a few favorites. Mash a banana and avocado together, add to that some finely chopped cucumber, a little yogurt and olive, coconut, or evening primrose oil to make it shine. You can either put it on as is or give it a ride in a blender for a few minutes. Slather it on your face and wait 30 minutes. If you get hungry, even better. All of these “beauty” treatments are edible and could be consumed! Again, when it comes time to rinse off, follow my tried and true method of a lukewarm water rise and cold water shock.
If the “spa experience” is more of what you’re looking for, have a few girls over and make it happen. Use scented candles, soft classical music, spa water (filtered water works too), and send the kids off to enjoy a remote activity. In fact, why not do a monthly spa club? Each person could host it at their house one month. It’s nearly free and your skin will thank you for it. Ahhhhhhhhh
