On February 25, The View presented a brutal topic plaguing women all over the world. Infertility is something couples are struggling with more and more, especially after the age of 30.
The show highlighted personal stories from different couples, including Giuliana and Bill Rancic. The Hollywood couple discussed openly about they’re personal struggle with infertility over the past year and a half. Fertility expert Dr. Jamie Grifo shared his treatment experience saying that women lose eggs every menstrual period, thus increasing less chance of fertility after the age of 30. Every woman starts with a different number of eggs and so some women can become pregnant later than others.
Barbara Walters shared her personal story of having gone through 3 separate miscarriages before later adopting, while Sherri Shepherd talked about her struggle with fertility treatments. Every one had a different story. The topic of infertility can be a sensitive one but an important issue to share and discuss openly.
One couple also shared that to their surprise, the husband turned out to be impotent, and that the inability to conceive in fact was not because of the woman. Barbara and Elizabeth highlighted how such set backs in having children can put a strain on the marriage. A woman shared her frustration and hurt having to go through a divorce as a result of complications with fertility treatments.
I learned a great deal from the conversations and I hope it’s something other woman/couples found useful.
