With Oprah ending her daytime TV reign in 2011, gossip has started buzzing around Rosie O’Donnell possibly filling the void with a talk show of her own. I, for one, have always been a fan of Rosie–despite her ostentatious behavior at times.
While I applaud her refusal to compromise her ideals, I do worry that she’s one of those brilliant people who may be too strong a personality to let life roll off her back, and tough it out in the public eye.
Case in point: Self-proclaimed nemesis Donald Trump recently referred to Rosie as “disgusting” to Cyndi Lauper and the viewing audience during his show Celebrity Apprentice–a comment I thought totally crossed the line. Thus far, though, I haven’t heard any rebuttal from Ms. O’Donnell, which give me hope.
You see, I feel too much controversy and upset has surrounded Rosie’s and she’s not been able to take the high road, which would endear her too the daytime viewing public. Don’t get me wrong–I’ll watch and support her show, but I wonder how she’s going to show up this time around–it kind of makes me nervous!
Will Rosie be the fun-loving, funny girl we all fell in love with oh so many years ago? Or, will she be controversial and more political–like a feminist version of Bill Maher, which I’d love, but am not sure would work for daytime TV.
I guess I’ll just sit back and watch with the rest of the world on this one: Hoping for the best, and that everything turns out rosy for Rosie.
