Companion. Friend. Comforter. Confidant. Protector.
Those who are lucky enough to have a relationship with a dog know what an incredibly fulfilling experience it is.
This week, we’ll all get a unique look into another role many dogs play in the lives of the people they live with– that of helper.
Avid dog lover and celebrity, Neil Patrick Harris, narrates the documentary film Through a Dog’s Eyes, which airs on PBS this Wednesday, April 21 (check your area’s listing for time).
In it, viewers are taken through the process of rearing, training, and matching service dogs with the individuals who need them. After reading the synopsis of the film, I couldn’t imagine any dog lover who wouldn’t tune in.
Personally, I know of an incredible woman who lives outside of Missoula, MT that trains service dogs from both purebreds and ones she rescues from local shelters. As she’ll tell you, there’s nothing quite like the transformation these animals make in the lives of those they serve.
Again, Through a Dog’s Eyes airs this Wednesday, April 21, on PBS.
