To Minx or not to Minx

I was so excited to learn about Minx Nail Coverings, while this was quite some time ago and hard to find, I thought I would check into it again when it was more “mainstream”.  Before I was able to do more research, along came gel nail polish.  Now, both look great, but definitely need to be done by a nail tech. or at least someone other than yourself! I just want to find something that lasts longer than traditional nail polish, but doesn’t take the same amount of days it lasts to remove!

So I am going to break it down for you:

Pros:

Minx nail coverings -

Many fashionable patterns available

Nice solid coverage

Pamper and sparkle like the stars

Gel nail polish-

Super fast drying time which means no smears or dents

You can mix up your own colors

Lasts 2-3 weeks with NO chipping

You can paint over it with regular nail polish

Several brands make a soak off polish Akzentz, Bio Sculpture Color Gel, CalGel, Dashing Diva Gelife, IBD, and OPI Axxium.

Cons:

 Minx nail coverings -

Have to be heated to apply

Their pre-fit sizes don’t seem to fit anyone

Process takes forever and can start peeling up the next day

Pricey $55-85 depending on mani or pedi and where you go

Have to be heated to be removed

Gel nail polish

Have to put your nails under a UV light between each coat

The soak off method is very long (dip cotton in acetone apply to nail and wrap in aluminum foil, then you still might need to file some off)

A little more pricey than a traditional manicure

Minx nails look like fun, I think I might try it for Halloween or some big event, but wouldn’t want to do it for my regular manicure.  What sold me on the Gel Nail polish is that they dry almost instantly and last so much longer!  Plus you can do some cool things like thissakura-gradation-calgel-uv-gel-nails-nat:

You decide…
