Got Time For A Facial?

by Sophia Marcelpapaya1

There comes a time when just washing your face is not enough. Do you sometimes look in the mirror and think my skin just doesn’t look as bright as it use to? Or maybe at times you take a closer look and think, wow! Have I reached the moment where I should consider a face lift?

Well we all can’t afford to run out and get cosmetic surgery, but we can do what we can to prolong that youthful look we were born with, for as long as we can. I came across these tips to clean and tone your face that can be done right at home, and thought I would share them with you.

Cleanse

Combine 1 Tbsp plain Greek yogurt with 2 tsp olive oil and ½ tsp lemon oil. Massage over skin, and wipe off with wet washcloth.

Brighten

Cut a slice of ripe papaya without the seeds or pulp, and rub the inside of the papaya peel on your clean face. Focus on the lines around the mouth, eyes, crow’s feet and thinning temples. Let it dry for about 15-20 minutes, and rinse. You can do this twice a week. The enzymes in the papaya exfoliate, repair sun damage, and diminish age spots. Your face will look brighter with a more polished finish.

Exfoliate

Combine 1 tsp honey, 1 tsp olive oil. Separately, prepare a packet of plain oatmeal, using less water than what instructions call for to make a thick paste. Then add the honey and olive oil mixture to the cooked oatmeal. Apply as a scrub, rubbing in small circle over the skin. Avoid eye area. Then rinse off with was water. This mask can be done twice weekly. The oatmeal scrubs and exfoliates, while the honey and olive oil moisturize.

Lift & Tighten

Combine 2 Tbsp plain yogurt with 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice, and apply to your clean face and neck area. Let dry for 20-30 minutes. You will feel the mask tighten, which creates a lifting and firming effect. You can leave it on longer for even more face-lifting effects. To remove, rinse with tepid water followed by a cool rinse. You can do this mask up to 3 times a week, or whenever you need a face lift.

Tone

After cleansing your face, to de-puff and relax eye area and energize your skin, brew a cup of chamomile or green tea and allow to cool. Soak 2 clean round makeup sponges in the tea and squeeze out excess liquid. Place 1 on each eye for 15 minutes.

Soothe

Combine 2 Tbsp honey with 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice. Apply to a clean face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with tepid water followed by a cool rinse. This can be done 3 times a week. This helps heal, moisturize and balances the pH of the skin. Honey is a humectant and natural antibiotic that heals and moisturizes. Apple cider vinegar helps balance the pH of sin and soothes damaged skin.

Moisturize

Grind 1 Tbsp oatmeal in a blender and set aside. Add 1 Tbsp fennel seeds to ½ cup boiling water to make a tea. Allow the seeds to steep for 10 minutes, strain and discard. Let cool to room temperature and combine the 1 Tbsp of the fennel tea with 1 Tbsp ground oatmeal and Tbsp honey. Apply mixture and lave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with tepid water then a cool rinse.
