Now by “Clean your house with a fern” I don’t mean turn it over and dust with it, I’m talking about cleaning your air!   According to SixWise.com your gonna need a lot of plants to start cleaning your air, but if you could clean 87% of air toxins in 24 hours wouldn’t you run out and buy some?  Well, you better get the big cart because you are going to need to buy 15-18 good sized plants.  Personally, I would much rather have a house full of plants than a house full of Lysol spray anyway!

“The Mother Fern, one of the best at purifying the air, is a very popular houseplant because it is easy to care for, thrives in indirect light and with little moisture, and is very attractive,” says Six Wise.  Whole Living Magazine says to put one in your bathroom windows, the warm steam from the shower will act like a greenhouse and it will freshen up the room.

Don’t despair if the fern isn’t your cup of tea try one of these other air purifying options instead:

  • Dragon tree
  • Ivy
  • Ficus
  • Philodendrons
  • Spider plants
  • Peace lilies
  • Ferns
  • Chrysanthemums
  • Palms

And next time you want to buy your sick friend a little pick me up, grab a plant instead of flowers, they’ll thank you later.
